About UL

University of Limpopo traces its roots to the former University of the North, established during apartheid as one of the designated universities for Black South African students, and remains one of the key higher education institutions serving Limpopo province.

It offers a broad range of programmes with recognised strength in the humanities, sciences and health-related fields — its Turfloop Graduate School of Leadership is one of the more established business schools outside the major metros.

The university continues to play a central role in regional access to higher education for students across Limpopo, many of whom would otherwise need to relocate far from home for university study.
