About UJ

University of Johannesburg was formed through the merger of the Rand Afrikaans University, Technikon Witwatersrand and parts of Vista University, giving it an unusually broad academic and vocational offering that spans everything from fine art to civil engineering.

UJ has grown into one of the country's largest universities by enrolment, spread across four Johannesburg campuses — Auckland Park Kingsway, Auckland Park Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto — with particular strength in engineering, art & design, and the built environment.

UJ has invested heavily in its campus facilities and international partnerships in recent years, positioning itself as a fast-growing, ambitious alternative to Johannesburg's older institutions, with a large and increasingly international student body.

What you'll need to apply

Every South African public university sets its own admission point score and subject requirements per programme, so the details below are general guidance rather than UJ-specific rules — always confirm exact requirements on the official site before applying.
