About CPUT

Formed from the merger of the Cape and Peninsula Technikons, CPUT is the largest university in the Western Cape by enrolment, spread across several campuses in and around Cape Town, including its District Six and Bellville campuses.

Its programmes lean strongly towards applied, career-focused training, with well-established faculties in engineering, business and applied sciences that emphasise practical, workplace-based learning over pure theory. Work-integrated learning placements are built into most qualifications, giving graduates direct industry exposure before they finish studying.

CPUT's multi-campus structure means it serves a wide spread of Cape Town's population, and its District Six campus sits on a site with deep historical significance in the city's apartheid-era history — a detail the university actively incorporates into its institutional identity.

What you'll need to apply

Every South African public university sets its own admission point score and subject requirements per programme, so the details below are general guidance rather than CPUT-specific rules — always confirm exact requirements on the official site before applying.
